Guidelines

Submission guidelines

Summarised from the NCDM 2025 guidelines. The NCDM 2026 guideline will be published here before the call opens; where they differ, the 2026 guideline applies.

Information to note before submission

  • Create an account on the NCDM 2026 abstract submission portal. Any co-author may submit.
  • The submitting author need not be the first author, but must select who the first author is.
  • Each submission receives a unique number. No modifications or resubmissions are possible once a submission is accepted.
  • Complete the NCDM Disclosure Form for every author; the submitting author compiles and uploads them.
  • Choose one track and one theme for each abstract.

Eligibility

  • Submissions must be in English.
  • Any abstract related to noncommunicable diseases is welcome, including high-impact case studies and reports.
  • Abstracts must include scientific data, clinical observations or a clearly stated scientific question.
  • Social science, advocacy, policy, social marketing and programme-implementation abstracts are exempt from the scientific structure and are judged on novelty and innovation.
  • Previously presented trial data may be submitted if it adds significant new data.
  • Multiple abstracts reporting a single study may be rejected.

First author responsibilities

  • Consents to the Confidentiality Policy.
  • Acts as the contact person for the submission.
  • Ensures ethics-committee approval and consent where required.
  • Ensures every co-author is aware of and agrees with the content.
  • Hands over copyright to the NCDM 2026 Scientific Committee.
  • Uses the same contact information across all of their abstracts.
  • Designates the corresponding author in the portal.

Selection & presentation

  • Every abstract is screened by the Scientific Committee.
  • Accepted authors must register for the conference, or the acceptance is cancelled.
  • Delegates who registered before acceptance are converted to presenters.

Merit Awards

For non-student submissions. Trophy plaque, Certificate of Merit and waived registration fee.

Student Merit Awards

For students registered at an educational institution. Trophy plaque, Certificate of Merit and waived registration fee.

Awards are announced on the last day. The applicant must be the first author and must present.

Policies
Prior presentation or publication
Work already presented at a conference or published may be considered if it adds new data. Pre-prints are allowed.
Conflict of interest
The first author confirms there are no undisclosed conflicts, collects co-author disclosures and follows the ICMJE definition of authorship.
Generative AI
Generative AI may not be used to write abstracts. AI-generated submissions are rejected.
